About 8.5 mln people visited Kyrgyzstan in 2019

The Kyrgyz Government does not believe it is impossible to develop regions without tourism, Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev said at the tourism development meeting. He noted the country has beautiful nature, which has all opportunities for opening tourist facilities. In his speech, Abylgaziev cited statistics on how many people visited the country last year. In 2019, Kyrgyzstan was visited by about 8.5 million people. Most of them came from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan's border regions, those engaged in small trade, visitors and relatives. "Of the total number of visitors to Kyrgyzstan, 8.2 million are citizens of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries. Thus, 4.5 million are from Uzbekistan, 2 million 200 from Kazakhstan, 500 thousand from Russia, 289.6 thousand from non-CIS countries, 57 thousand from Turkey, 34 thousand from China, 25 thousand from Germany, 9.247 thousand from France, 6.7 thousand from Saudi Arabia, 5 thousand from Japan and 3 thousand from Spain," the Kyrgyz prime minister added.
