Awsaj Academy Workshop Mulls Teens Challenges

Doha, February 18 (QNA) - Awsaj Academy workshop Tuesday explored challenges faced by parents while dealing with children going through various stages of adolescence. Qatar University College of Education Associate Professor Dr Batoul Khalifa led the Academys fourth workshop of the year. She discussed ways to help teenagers develop and thrive during these challenging years. The workshop identified the stages of adolescence for the participants. She addressed challenges of each stage such as daydreaming, aggression and improper behaviour. Dr Khalifa identified several common, but bad parenting practices to avoid. She explained how to do positive reinforcement. She also taught strategies to help adolescents manage anger. She presented a parenting programme on how to help teenage children develop self-help skills and positive behaviour. Awsaj Academy, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, conducts a series of workshops to help parents understand their childrens special educational needs. The Academy will next hold workshops on Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Anger Management, and Assistive Technology. (QNA)
