Bishkek celebrates birthday of great Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov

Bishkek, Dec.12, 2019 /Kabar/. Today, Dec. 12, Kyrgyzstan’s capital Bishkek celebrated the birthday of great Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov. Literary master classes were organized in the capital, and play and theatre zones were opened in libraries. Note that earlier, the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY) declared 2018 as the Year of Chygyz Aitmatov. According to UNESCO, Aitmatov is one of the most readable authors of modernity. His works have been translated into more than 176 languages and published in 128 countries with a circulation of more than 100 million copies. Aitmatov's works have been included in the curricula of schools and higher education institutions in many countries. The writer was born in 1928 in Sheker village of Talas Oblast. He died at the age of 79 in 2008 in Germany.
