Bishkek hosts Meeting of CSTO Coordinating Council for Emergency Situations

Bishkek, Oct.10, 2019. /Kabar/. XII Meeting of the Coordinating Council for Emergency Situations (ECC) of the Collective Security treaty Organization (CSTO) member states kicks off in Bishkek. The Meeting will consider the issues of expanding the cooperation of the CSTO with international organizations in order to use the potential in the provision of assistance in case of emergency situations, the activities of the ECC CSTO for 2019, the Plan of joint activities for 2020, as well as summing up the results of staff training on working out the interaction of emergency ministries during the emergencies, held in the mode of videoconference in March this year under the leadership of Kyrgyzstan’s Emergency Situations. The Meeting is attended by heads, members of the ECC CSTO and acting Secretary General of the CSTO Valery Semerikov, as well as representatives of international and non-governmental organizations. This year Kyrgyzstan is chairing the CSTO. The Collective Security Treaty was signed on May 15, 1992 in Tashkent by the heads of six states - participants of the CIS: Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In September 1993, Azerbaijan joined him, in December of the same year, Georgia and Belarus.
