Breast Cancer Charity Programme To Empower Women With Knowledge

LABUAN (Malaysia), Oct 18 (Bernama) -- October is a beautiful month filled with vivid colours, smells of fall and fall festivities all around. The crisp air just begs us to get outside and enjoy the weather. But October is a beautiful month for another reason. It is breast cancer awareness month. Breast cancer awareness month is an annual international health campaign organised by major breast cancer charities every October to increase awareness of the disease and to raise funds for research into its cause, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and cure. In response to Breast Cancer Month of October, the Rotary Club of Labuan and the Pink Ribbon Wellness (L) Foundation (PRWLF) are jointly organising a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign. The event on Oct 19, supported by Labuan Financial Services Authority (Labuan FSA) and Borneo Trustees Limited, is a charitable foundation established by a group of breast cancer survivors and registered in Federal Territory of Labuan in Feb 2012. The programme will commence at 9.30 a.m at Rafflessia room Financial Park Complex Labuan with a talk on “Breast Healthcare and Wellness” by Dr Devanand, the Founder and Chairman of PRWLF. The afternoon session is targeted for breast cancer survivors. Talks on the “Importance of Nutrition in Surviving Cancer”, “How To Prevent A Recurrence” and Survivors’ Personal Stories will be presented by Dr Devanand and his team. It is hoped that breast cancer survivors in Labuan and its vicinity will take advantage of PRWLF’s rare visit to Labuan and acquire tips on how to survive well after breast cancer. --BERNAMA
