Designers Showcase Muslim Fashions

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 (Bernama) -- A fashion designer from Indonesia, Dian Wahyu Utami presented an artistic array of African fashions dubbed the "Queen of Giza" at the Kuala Lumpur Islamic Fashion Festival (IFF) here on Monday. Dian or Dian Pelangi was among 45 fashion designers from Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia who are taking part in the five-day fashion galore themed "Hakuna Matata" or "Do Not Worry" until Friday. Among fashion designers taking part are Tom Abang Saufi, Radzuwan Radziwill and Melinda Looi from Malaysia; Paul Ropp (Indonesia); and Jaipore Jewels (Singapore). Present was Tuanku Zara Salim, consort of the northern state of Perak's Crown Prince Raja Dr Nazrin Shah (middle, in the picture). Dian told reporters fashionable Muslim's hijab (clothing) in Malaysia and Indonesia was gaining international recognition. Kuala Lumpur IFF founder Raja Rezza Shah Raja Zurin said the festival was a gateway connecting Muslim fashions around the world. -- BERNAMA
