Dollar and ruble climb in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, March 30, 2020. /Kabar/. The dollar edged up again in Kyrgyzstan. For example, dollar in commercial banks is sold at KGS 81, and bought for KGS 80. Earlier, the dollar exchange rate jumped sharply by KGS 12 from KGS 73 to 85. After the intervention of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan, the rate fell to KGS 78. Euro is sold at KGS 92, and bought for KGS 88. Meanwhile, the ruble rate has slightly increased. Today, the ruble is sold for KGS 1.06, bought by KGS 1.01. The dollar rate jumped after oil prices collapsed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. This affected the exchange rate of the Russian ruble (RUB) and the Kazakh tenge (KZT), which eventually affected the Kyrgyz som (KGS).
