EAEU plans to adopt comprehensive plan to prevent spread of novel coronavirus

Bishkek, May 5, 2020 / Kabar /. The countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), at the initiative of Rospotrebnadzor, in the framework of the Council of heads of authorized bodies in the field of sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population of the EAEU member states, have prepared a draft Comprehensive Plan to prevent the spread of novel coronavirus and other infectious diseases.
The document provides for the development in the EAEU space of unified methodological approaches to laboratory research, the creation of a common system for the operational monitoring of infectious diseases, staff training, interstate exercises and scientific research on the development of vaccines and diagnostic test systems for the most relevant infectious diseases in the region. The adoption of the document is expected during the next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.
The implementation of the activities of the Comprehensive Plan will allow normalizing the current epidemiological situation in the EAEU countries for the novel coronavirus, as well as strengthening the capacity of states in the field of prevention and response to infectious threats.
Council of heads of authorized bodies in the field of sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population of the EAEU member states was created in accordance with the decision of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council daed May 31, 2016. The Council is a subsidiary body of the Eurasian Economic Union for the implementation by the member states of an agreed and coordinated sanitary and epidemiological welfare policies. The council also involved relevant departments of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
The Eurasian Economic Union comprises 5 member states: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia.
