Fair of Kyrgyz products at charity event in Japan

Bishkek, Nov.29, 2019. /Kabar/. On Nov. 22, 2019 the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Japan hosted a charity event, dedicated to the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the press service of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Friday. The event included a performance of Japanese harpist Kotohira, as well as Kyrgyz folk musical instruments playing. In addition, a fair of national souvenirs, felt products and honey, produced in the Kyrgyz Republic, was organized, as well as tasting of national dishes and drinks. Representatives of the Embassy made a presentation on the investment and tourism potential of the Kyrgyz Republic, the history and traditions of the Kyrgyz people. The charitable event allowed to raise JPY 76 thousand (about KGS 49 thousand), which will be sent to social institutions, assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic. Representatives of the Japanese organizations, Japanese media, representatives of the Japanese creative intelligentsia, as well as residents of the land of the rising sun attended the charitable event. International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3) is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It has been observed with varying degrees of success around the planet. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. It was originally called "International Day of Disabled Persons" until 2007. Each year the day focuses on a different issue.
