First Deputy PM Boronov takes part in 3rd Kyrgyz-British Investment Forum in London

First Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov took part in the 3rd Kyrgyz-British Investment Forum, held in London (the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland). In his speech Kubatbek Boronov expressed his gratitude to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Chaarat Gold Holdings for the support of this event, the Kyrgyz Government’s press service reported. He praised the dynamic development of Kyrgyz-British relations and emphasized the great potential for development, the positive result of which is a 4.5-fold increase in foreign direct investment inflows from the UK in the first half of 2019 (the volume amounted to $64.6 million). “The Government of the Kyrgyz Republic believes that it is important to hold joint events to expand the horizons of cooperation and activate business contacts. I am confident the Annual Investment Forum will serve as a powerful incentive to promote mutual ideas and goals for the development of long-term cooperation between representatives of business structures of our countries,” First Deputy PM Boronov said. Providing a description of the investment potential of the country, Kubatbek Boronov noted the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic is taking the necessary measures to increase the investment attractiveness of the country, protect private property and eliminate all bureaucratic obstacles for investors. According to him, the measures taken to improve the business climate, support the business environment and attract foreign direct investment have already begun to yield initial results. Thus, at the end of 2018, the inflow of foreign direct investment increased by almost 40%, while at the end of the first 6 months of 2019 investment increased by almost 60%. In addition, Kyrgyzstan’s first deputy PM noted with satisfaction the improvement of business environment is reflected in the Doing Business international ranking. This year, the country entered the top 20 countries-reformers of the Doing Business 2020 rating, improving the indicators Getting electricity, Getting credit and Paying taxes. At the same time, the Kyrgyz side urged to invest in the country and consider the possibilities of priority areas for investment, such as tourism, energy, industry, information technology. The Forum was attended by representatives of about 10 Kyrgyz and 40 British companies specializing in tourism, mining, consulting, investment, ecology, etc. The sides discussed measures to create a favorable investment climate in the country, attract British investments in the domestic economy, invest in projects in the mining industry, information technology, the banking and financial sector, tourism and regional development.
