First Turkish Culture Festival Opens April 9 at Katara
Doha, April 06 (QNA) - Turkish contemporary art, music, folk dance, food, Islamic calligraphy workshop, culture and history will be showcased at the first Turkish Festival opening at the Katara here April 9.
The four-day festival to be held at Building 3, Katara Esplanade aims to promote Turkish culture, history and its modern's aspects based on the bonds between Qatar and Turkey, a Katara synopsis of the programme said.
According to Turkish Embassy in Doha, A Solo Turk F16 Air show opens the festival at 4pm on Wednesday followed by the opening of the festival area. The evening features Turkish contemporary art titled 'Sliding Doors on a Hidden Threshold' to be held from 7.30pm to 10pm.
Simultaneously, 'String of Pearls from Turkey' will be performed by Istanbul State Opera and Ballet Modern Dance Group to be followed by Ankara Turkish World's Music Ensemble and State Folk Dance Ensemble which shall the close the first day's events.
Food Court, Grand Bazaar and Spice Bazaar will be held on all four days.
On Thursday, six workshops will be held - on water marbling art, Islamic calligraphy, traditional Turkish food cooking, sweets-making, percussion, and glass-blowing and forming art.
Ankara Turkish World's Music Ensemble and State Folk Dance Ensemble will complete the second day's programme.
The third and fourth day's cultural events includes same topics but different performers. Programme details are available at Turkish Embassy in Doha website. (QNA)
