Foreign Minister Aidarbekov visits John Cockerill Corporation in Belgium

Bishkek, Feb.14, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Chingiz Aidarbekov visited John Cockerill Corporation in Belgium, the Kyrgyz MFA’s press service said. On Feb. 13, 2020 Aidarbekov met with the management of the large Belgian corporation. The meeting took place in Liège, Belgium as part of assistance in attracting foreign investment and innovative technologies in priority sectors of the Kyrgyz economy. During the meeting, representatives of John Cockerill Corporation made a presentation on their activities. Prospective directions of cooperation in the sphere of providing clean drinking water within the framework of national projects, construction of hydroelectric stations and possibility of participation in transportation projects were discussed. Minister Aidarbekov informed about the upcoming first “European Union-Central Asia: Partnership for Action on Green Economy" Economic Forum, which is planned to be held in summer 2020 in Bishkek, and invited the John Cockerill Corporation to take an active part in this event. John Cockerill is a mechanical engineering group headquartered in Seraing, Belgium, producing machinery for steel plants, industrial heat recovery equipment and boiler, and shunting locomotives and military equipment. The corporation was founded in 1817. It operates in 23 countries with a turnover of EUR 1.8 billion.
