Government takes measures to prevent import and spread of coronavirus, deputy PM

Bishkek, Mar.12, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Prime Minister Altynai Omurbekova took part in the ceremony of handing over personal protective equipment to the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic.
These means were handed over by U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and World Health Organization (WHO) as part of an early assistance package for the preparation and prevention of the spread of coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in the Kyrgyz Republic.
In her speech, Omurbekova thanked USAID and WHO leadership for their close cooperation and support, and noted everyone today is witnessing an outbreak of a new coronavirus infection.
The deputy PM added the Kyrgyz Government is taking all kinds of measures in order to prevent the import and spread of new coronavirus in the territory of the country.
According to her information, a number of anti-epidemic measures have been taken: 22 sanitary-quarantine points (SQP) have been deployed at the border checkpoints, where round-the-clock duty of doctors, epidemiologists, infectious disease specialists and other medical workers has been organized; 1121 beds have been prepared for examination and hospitalization, including 396 beds in health care organizations in hospital conditions.
Altynai Omurbekova added personal protective equipment provided by the U.S. Government through the USAID in partnership with the World Health Organization, is essential to successful prevention efforts.
In particular, 10,000 surgical masks, 10,000 gloves, 1,400 gowns, 200 goggles and 200 FFP2 facial masks were donated to the Kyrgyz side.
