INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES IN MONGOLIA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ On December 3, an International Day of Persons with Disabilities was marked in Mongolia. The Ministry of Population Development and Social Welfare has organized a campaign named "Let's remove barriers to the accessible society with large community", during which the National Association of Wheelchair Users have run an evaluation of nine newly constructed pedestrian crossings and T-junctions in the UB city. Based on this research's results, instructions will be worked out. A motto of the day for this year is "Break Barriers, Open Doors: for inclusive society and development for all". This Day is an international observance promoted by the United Nations since 1992. It has been celebrated with varying degrees of success around the planet. The observance of the Day aims to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights and well-being of persons with disabilities.
