Japanese Embassy donates equipment to school canteens in southern Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, Feb.18, 2020 /Kabar/. A ceremony of donating equipment for school meals was held in Dzhalal-Abad and Osh Oblasts, the press service of the Embassy of Japan in Kyrgyzstan reported.
The donating took place under the Grand Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Japanese Government.
According to the grant contract, signed on Mar. 4, 2019, under this project of the TES Training and Extension System, industrial kitchen equipment for school canteens worth $ 88,320 was transferred.
The solemn ceremony of the canteen equipment was held on Feb. 13 at the Roza Azimova School in Dzhalal-Abad town.
In his speech, Deputy Governor of Dzhalal-Abad Oblast Irysbek Izabekov noted a huge work was done to introduce hot meals in schools of Dzhalal-Abad and Osh Oblasts, and thanked the people of Japan in the person of the Embassy for the provided industrial kitchen equipment and furniture for the school canteen.
He emphasized this assistance is an invaluable contribution to the development of social and economic life in the country, and expressed hope for further cooperation.
For his part, Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan Shigeki Maeda emphasized that the financing of this project will contribute to improving the quality of school lunches, thereby fostering a healthy young generation in Kyrgyzstan.
He added the Embassy would continue to implement effective projects in such important areas as education, health care and social welfare and social protection system, in terms of basic needs and human security.
Thus, under the grant program, eight schools in Osh and Dzhalal-Abad Oblasts have installed industrial kitchen equipment and furniture.
Grand Assistance for Grass-Roots Human Security Projects (GGP) has been implemented in the Kyrgyz Republic since 1996. It is aimed at solving the problem of basic human needs through the efforts of local self-government bodies, institutions of primary medical care, primary education, non-governmental organizations, etc.
The program is aimed at solving the problem of basic human needs. During the implementation of this program, 155 projects for a total amount of USD 10 million 580 thousand 648 were implemented in Kyrgyzstan.
