Kyrgyz capital opens winter tourist season of country

Opening of Kyrgyzstan’s 2019-2020 winter tourist season took place on Sunday on the territory of Ak-Tyuz ski resort in Chui Oblast, the press service of the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic said. The event was organized at the initiative of the Department of Tourism of the Culture Ministry to promote the tourist brand of Kyrgyzstan. The solemn opening ceremony of the winter tourist season began with a speech by Maksat Damir uulu, Director of the Tourism Department. Then, the guests of the event were greeted by Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Azamat Jamankulov, as well as Director General of the Ak-Tyuz ski base Maksat Sabyrov. The official part of the event was followed by a competition and entertainment program. Creative groups performed, and prizes and gifts from partners were raffled off during the contests. "The event ended on a bright note in the midst of the weekend, so that the participants had time to try a ride on the freshly fallen snow. In the future, the event is planned to become an annual one,” the report says. There are 22 ski resorts in Kyrgyzstan, of which 16 operate. At the same time, it is planned to develop and open ski bases in the southern part of the country in the future, in particular, in Alai region, Osh Oblast.
