Kyrgyz, Tajik border areas to establish joint venture, hold cultural and sporting events

Bishkek, Feb.5, 2020 /Kabar/. At the initiative of the Kyrgyz Embassy in Tajikistan, Kyrgyz-Tajik talks took place on Tuesday in Tajikistan’s Isfara city.
First Deputy Governor of Batken Oblast Kenesh Salikhov, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Tajikistan Janysh Rustenbekov and First Deputy Chairman of Tajikistan’s Sughd Region Bakhovaddin Bakhodurzoda attended the talks, during which interregional cooperation issues were discussed, the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry reported.
Ambassador Rustenbekov noted the need to strengthen trust between the peoples, especially in the border area. The Tajik side was offered to hold a Kyrgyz-Tajik Business Forum.
The negotiators considered the issue of establishing joint ventures at the border areas of Batken and Sughd Oblasts for processing agricultural products and other spheres.
The sides discussed the joint holding in 2020 of a number of cultural and sporting events in the border areas of the two countries’ oblasts, in particular, a friendly match on kok-boru (buzkashi), youth football tournament, theater festival, a concert of Kyrgyz and Tajik pop music, a week of screening films based on the novels of famous Kyrgyz writer Chyngyz Aitmatov in Tajikistan.
The Kyrgyz ambassador said in the first half of 2020, Batken town is planned to host the Second Round of the Tourism Business Forum of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.
The Kyrgyz side expressed hope that the Tajik side will actively participate in this event.
