Kyrgyzstan negotiates with China to open Irkeshtam checkpoint at border

Bishkek, Apr.7, 2020./Kabar/.Kyrgyzstan has held talks with China to resume the vehicle's movement at the Irkeshtam checkpoint, Deputy Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Erkin Asrandiyev said at a briefing at Government House. According to him, negotiations with the Chinese side have been conducted for 10 days and a note was sent on March 27. "In the south, deputy governor of Osh Oblast, representatives of the Ministry of Transport and the Customs Service held talks with their Chinese counterparts on the opening of the Irkeshtam checkpoint. We have developed an algorithm for the movement of vehicles. For today, we are waiting for an answer," he said. The Kyrgyz-Chinese border was closed on Jan. 23, 2020, due to a COVID-19 coronavirus infection.
