Meeting of Public Council of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan held

Bishkek, June 11, 2020 / Kabar /. A regular meeting of the Public Council of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic was held with the participation of Foreign Minister Chingiz Aidarbekov and employees of the ministry. The meeting was chaired by Ishengul Boldzhurova, the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
The meeting began with a minute of silence in memory of those killed in the June events of 2010.
Aidarbekov acquainted members of the Public Council in more detail with the work of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in emergency situations related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Thus, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, together with the foreign agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic, mobilized work to attract humanitarian and technical assistance to provide the country with personal protective equipment and necessary medicines. As of May 20, about 215 thousand test systems and over 3 thousand reagents for laboratory tests; over 1.15 million disposable masks, more than 140 thousand reusable respiratory masks with filters, 85 thousand protective overalls, 734 thousand medical gloves, 28 thousand liters of disinfectants in the form of antiseptics and sanitizers were attracted.
The first very significant batches of humanitarian aid in the form of rapid tests, PCR tests and reagents came from Russia, China, Korea, Belarus, Turkey. The German government has provided a package of financial assistance in the amount of EUR 500 thousand. Humanitarian aid was also received from the USA, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Japan, Switzerland, Iran, the UAE.
The minister noted the work of diplomats on the return of Kyrgyz citizens from foreign countries in conditions of border closure and flight cancellation. So, despite these difficulties, in the period from early February to June 9 this year 13 thousand 304 Kyrgyz citizens from about 40 foreign countries were returned.
During the meeting, members of the Public Council made recommendations on further effective interaction between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and foreign agencies of the Kyrgyz Republic during the coronavirus pandemic.
