Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan visits border guards wounded in incident at Kyrgyz-Tajik border

Bishkek, May 12, 2020. /Kabar/. Akyikatchy (Ombudsman) of Kyrgyzstan Tokon Mamytov paid a visit to servicemen of Kok-Tash frontier post of Batken border guard detachment who received gunshot wounds during the border incident, happened on May 8 this year, the press service of the Ombudsman’s Office reported. Two of them – Abdisait uulu Manas and Turdubai uulu Chyngyz are undergoing inpatient treatment at the National Hospital under the Health Ministry of Kyrgyzstan. Third injured soldier, Sultanbek uulu Mirbek, is in the intensive care unit of this hospital. During his visit to the injured border guards, the Ombudsman of Kyrgyzstan, taking into account his work experience in the Kyrgyz Border Service, addressed the soldiers as his colleagues with words of support and wishes for a speedy recovery. In addition, he spoke with mother of Abdisait uulu Manas and wished her son a speedy recovery as well. Then Tokon Mamytov met and talked to Deputy Chief Physician of the National Hospital Umetaliyev and other attending physicians. They noted the condition of Abdisait uulu Manas and Turdubai uulu Chyngyz is stable, and Sultanbek uulu Mirbek is being prepared for repeated operation, the first one was made in Batken Oblast Hospital. A conflict between residents of the border regions of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan over the use of 50 acres of the Chek site occurred on May 8. This site is undescribed, but actually used by the Kyrgyz side. About 30-40 citizens of Kyrgyzstan and 30-40 citizens of Tajikistan began to throw stones at each other. The border conflict was provoked by Tajik servicemen, who unexpectedly opened group fire towards Kyrgyz border guards and citizens, according to the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan. During the shootout, three servicemen from the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan have been wounded.
