Operation of checkpoint at Kyrgyz-Chinese border to be restored for cargo transportation

Bishkek, June 3, 2020. /Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan and China held talks to reopen the Torugart checkpoint at the Kyrgyz-Chinese border. The parties agreed to resume operation of the Torugart checkpoint from June 8, 2020 for mutual cargo transportation between China and Kyrgyzstan. According to the Embassy of China in Kyrgyzstan, "building upon the high level of friendly relations between China and Kyrgyzstan on the outcome of bilateral negotiations, the parties reached an agreement to restore the work of the checkpoint for cargo transportation". At the same time, restrictions for citizens of the two countries to cross the border remain. Detailed issues on the opening and functioning of the Torugart checkpoint will be agreed upon further by the competent authorities of the two countries.
