Population and Housing Census in Kyrgyzstan postponed indefinitely

Bishkek, Apr. 17, 2020. /Kabar/. The National Statistics Committee of Kyrgyzstan has postponed the 2020 Population and Housing Census date. According to the press service of the Committee, earlier President Sooronbay Jeenbekov has signed a decree to extend the state of emergency in some cities and regions of the country until Apr. 30, 2020 due to spread of COVID-19 coronavirus infection. The Population and Housing Census of the Kyrgyz Republic was scheduled for the period from March 23 to Apr.1, 2020. In connection with the spread of coronavirus in the country, it was decided to move the official date of the Census on Apr. 20- 29 this year. The date for the Census has now been postponed indefinitely.
