Population Census in Kyrgyzstan to be held at scheduled time, Statistics Committee

Bishkek, Mar.16, 2020. /Kabar/. The census in Kyrgyzstan will be held at scheduled time, the press service of the National Statistics Committee said on Monday. A meeting of Security Council under the chairmanship of President Sooronbay Jeenbekov with the participation of heads of several state bodies and governors was held on Mar.14. President Jeenbekov noted the situation with coronavirus is under his personal control. Government members also made presentations on minimizing the impact of the coronavirus on the country's economic situation. Chairman of the National Statistics Committee of the republic Akylbek Sultanov said the census of the population of Kyrgyzstan will be held in the previously planned dates - from March 23 to Apr. 1, in remote areas –on Apr.20-29, 2020. In addition, the chairman reported on the current situation with regard to the preparation of the population and housing census. Sultanov stressed that 90% of the preparations for the census were completed. Employees of territorial subdivisions of state statistics currently continue training of census officers, which will be completed on Mar. 20 this year. In connection with the current situation with the spread of coronavirus, the National Statistics Committee has provided for informing the participants of workshop about the basic precautions for protection against this infection.
