Qatar Lose 1-3 to UAE in Opening Match of GCC Championship

Doha, January 05 (QNA) - The Qatari football team lost Saturday there first match of 21st GCC Football Championship 1-3. Khalfan Ibrahim opened the scoring in the match for Qatar, from the spot kick in the 11th minute. However the team could not sustain their lead and were pegged back immediately in through a Omar Abdul Rahman strike in the 13th minute. UAE then scored two other goals, in the 28th minute and 66th minute through Ali Mabkhot and Mohammed Ahmed respectively. Qatar pressed hard to get back into the game, but they couldn't find a way past the Emirati defense. UAE rose to the top of group with three points. Both Bahrain and Oman are joint second after drawing earlier today. (QNA)
