Russian military deliver 1.5 tons of humanitarian aid to residents of Syria’s Hama province

SWEIDA (Syria), July 19. /TASS/. About 1.5 tons of humanitarian aid have been delivered by the Russian military to the Syrian province of Hama, spokesman for the Russian Center for Reconciliation of the warring sides in Syria Colonel Ruslan Tokarev told reporters on Tuesday.
Residents of the Sweida settlement have received food packages. "WSE have brought the basic foodstuffs, including preserves, flour, rice, sugar. In total, some 1.5 tons," Tokarev said.
In addition, Russia’s military doctors have deployed a mobile medical center in the settlement and rendered medical aid to all who needed it.
Tokarev added that Sweida’s population is some 4,500 people. More than 200 residents of the settlement have been killed during the war in the battle with terrorists. Another 800 persons are currently serving in the Syrian army. Thus, the settlement is currently populated by mostly women, children and some 200 refugees who really need help.
The local administration representative Saleh Assi said that militants had abducted many villagers. The humanitarian relief supplies will be given to the families of the kidnapped, killed and injured in the war, as well as refugees. He thanked Russia for providing humanitarian aid to the Syrian people and its support to Syria in the fight against international terrorism. Assi also expressed the hope that Syria would win with the support of the Russian friends.
A ceasefire regime brokered by Russia and the United States on February 22 officially came into effect in Syria at midnight Damascus time on February 27. This does not cover terrorist groups such as Islamic State and Jabhat al-Nusra, both outlawed in Russia, and other groups recognized as terrorist by the United Nations Security Council.
An hour before the ceasefire came into force, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution in support cessation of hostilities in Syria. The document was initiated by Russia and the United States and won support from all the 15 members of the United Nations Security Council.
The Russian Reconciliation Center aims to assist armed groups in Syria in concluding ceasefire agreements, maintain the truce regime, control its observance and organize the delivery of humanitarian cargoes to civilians.
