SCO Foreign Ministers adopt Statement on Responding to COVID-19

Bishkek, May 14, 2020. /Kabar/. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Chingiz Aidarbekov attended on Wednesday a video meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers. According to the press service of the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry, the meeting participants discussed further cooperation of the SCO member states in the conditions of a new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) and coordination of efforts to overcome its trade, economic and social consequences. The main topic of the meeting was further development of SCO activities, preparation of the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting in St. Petersburg, ministerial meetings and other events within the framework of Russia's chairmanship of SCO. In addition, the parties debated the role of the Organization in the system of international relations in the light of the 75th anniversary of Victory in World War II and the 75th anniversary of the UN, as well as issues related to ensuring security and stability in the region. The meeting resulted in the adoption of the Statement of Foreign Ministers of SCO member states on Responding to COVID-19.
