Session of CIS Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly kicks off in St. Petersburg

Bishkek, Nov.22, 2019. /Kabar/. 14th session of the Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of countries of the Commonwealth of Independent State (CIS) took place at the Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg. The event was held within the frame of the jubilee, 50th plenary session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA CIS), the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reported. Kyrgyzstan at the session was represented by deputy of the Osh City Council Mirlan Amatbekov and deputy of the Naryn City Council Aibek Tokoshov. The key topic of the 14th session was the main directions of work on the development of political culture and electoral activity of young people. Thus, the issues of development of youth interest in elections, expansion of political participation of women and contribution of young people to the development of the state in general were discussed. The members of the delegations also stressed the need to deepen cooperation in such venues. The active work of the Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly demonstrates that the development of youth parliamentary system and the promotion of the rights and interests of young people are among the paramount objectives of the CIS. The IPA CIS is an international parliamentary organisation of the CIS countries that was established in 1992 to hold inter-parliamentary consultations and draft advisory (framework) legislation in order to streamline the CIS countries’ legislations and to create a common legal framework for the CIS. On Nov.22, 2012, the IPA CIS Council established the CIS Youth Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, which comprises youth parliamentary delegations from the IPA CIS countries.
