Speaker Dzhumabekov talks over phone with Chairman of Russian State Duma Volodin

Bishkek, May 13, 2020. /Kabar/. Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament) Dastanbek Dzhumabekov held phone conversation with Chairman of Russia’s State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin. According to the press service of Parliament, the sides discussed the situation with the spread of coronavirus in the world, as well as the possibility of holding a meeting of CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organization) Parliamentary Assembly Council in June in the format of a video conference. Such format will be needed in connection with measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection. Earlier, the CSTO PA Council meeting was scheduled to be held in May. During the talk, Speaker Dzhumabekov highlighted importance of developing inter-parliamentary vector of cooperation at this difficult time. "In the conditions of pandemic, close cooperation between the states, as well as mutual support is more important than ever," he said. In turn, Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin noted the intention to discuss the possibility of holding a CSTO PA Council session remotely with all parliament speakers of the Parliamentary Assembly.
