Tashkent celebrates Kyrgyz Language Day

Tashkent, Oct.2, 2019. /Kabar/. The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Uzbekistan organized evening function on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the law of the status of the Kyrgyz language and the 125th anniversary of Sayakbay Karalaev.
The event was attended by activists of the National Kyrgyz National Cultural Center of Uzbekistan, the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan Friendship Society, and representatives of the Committee of the Inter-ethnic Relations and Friendly Cooperation with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan.
In his speech, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Uzbekistan Ibrahim Dzhunusov noted the importance of preserving the Kyrgyz culture and native language and passing it on to the next generation.
During the event, poems by famous Kyrgyz poets were proclaimed by Dzunusov and the Embassy staff, and schoolchildren were presented with excerpts from the Manas epic and other works by Kyrgyz authors.
Sayakbay Karalaev (1894–1971) was a renowned manaschi - a reciter of the epic Kyrgyz poem Manas.
