Two Generations Of Cuban Family Members Showcase "Connections 5"

By Tengku Faizah Tengku Yusof KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- Once you step into the City Art Gallery, here you will be astonished with the magnificent Cuban paintings that have been put up on the wall. An illustration of rhinoceros may capture visitors’ sight, as it tends to make you believe that the painting is alive; real enough as it can move all around while you are not aware. This is part of the unique art that you will get to see during the contemporary Cuban Art Exhibition: “Connections 5,” until Sunday, organised by the City Art Gallery, which jumbles two generations of the family members of Dominguez Fong. "Connections 5" brought together artworks from five Dominguez family members - Nelson Dominguez, Flora Fong, Li Dominguez, Liang Dominguez and Neslon Gabriel Dominguez, the Cuban embassy here said. The 25 masterpieces exhibited revealed the connection among these five family members and somehow alluded to the title of "Connections Five." Li, 36, told Bernama that this was not his first time in Malaysia. "I also took part in Art Expo Malaysia last month and joined an exhibition in Melaka before this," said Li, who has also participated in numerous international exhibitions in the United States, Cuba, Spain, Italy, France and Germany. He has also teamed up with his mother in an "Exhibition of The Mother, The Son: Two Artists, One Passion" in the US on Sept 3, 2010. Li will be in Malaysia until Sunday, as representative of his family for the “Connections 5” exhibition at The Ampwalk, Jalan Ampang. The five Cuban artists have varying ways to express their souls and thoughts through their own masterpiece, by using different colour frequencies, to point out expressive diversity. The "Connections 5" plans to extend its journey to other countries after Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
