UNICEF to supply medicines for cancer patients in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, May 7, 2020. /Kabar/. UNICEF will supply in Kyrgyzstan medicines for cancer patients from its warehouses, Deputy Health Minister of the republic Nurbolot Usenbayev said at a news briefing.
According to him, the national budget has allocated KGS 160 million for the oncology department, including KGS 60 million for children's oncology to purchase medicines.
"Osh Oblast Clinical Hospital has a list of medications, and there are some inaccessible drugs. Due to the lack of registration, tender issues and border closures, there are difficulties in timely importing these drugs,” he said.
Usenbayev noted that at the same time, Kyrgyzstan has an agreement with UNICEF Children's Fund.
"We have met with UNICEF representatives and asked for assistance in providing these medicines. Today, there is an agreement that UNICEF will assist to the supply of medicines, which are in the Fund's central warehouses, worth more than USD 55 thousand for the Osh Department, and about USD 65 thousand for the National Center of Oncology and Hematology. Efforts in this direction are being taken, if possible, the Ministry of Health and the Oncology and Hematology Center will try to resolve this issue," he added.
