Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- Overhauling of irrigation system gets brisk in the DPRK to implement the resolutions of the 7th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Construction and overhauling of the drainage facilities including emptying gate, drainage lock gate and drainage structures planned this year are being pushed forward with.

At present the construction and overhauling of drainage facilities reached over 90 percent across the country.

South Hwanghae Province built 18 emptying gates and overhauled more than 60 ones.

Nampho City finished overhauling of drainage facilities in a short span of time and built dozens of emptying gates.

North Phyongan Province overhauled dozens of drainage lock gates and emptying gates and pushes forward with the drainage structure projects.

Officials and workers of other provinces make innovations every day in accomplishing the planned projects.

The North Hwanghae Provincial Brigade of the waterway construction division puts spurs to the waterway tunnel and pipe-burying projects with the Hwangju-Kindung waterway project being dynamically stepped up.

Officials of the brigade pay their attention to finding and applying rational methods for accelerating the project while organizing all work to ensure the supply of manpower, machinery and equipment and materials.

The plastic pipe production base of the South Hwanghae Provincial Rural Economy Committee produced various kinds of plastic pipes extending 130-odd kilometers needed for the irrigation construction in the province. -0-
