Abdullah bin Zayed, Indonesian VP discuss ways to enhance bilateral ties

JAKARTA: The U.A.E. Foreign Minister, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, met here yesterday Vice President of Indonesia, Jusuf Kalla, and discussed with him ways of strengthening bilateral relations in the best interest of the two friendly countries and peoples. The meeting also tackled a variety of regional, Islamic and international issues of mutual concern. Sheikh Abdullah expressed satisfaction at the distinguished progress in the U.A.E.-Indonesia ties, emphasising the resolve of the U.A.E. leadership to bolster cooperation and friendship ties with different countries. He praised Indonesia as one of the heavy weight and influential countries in the world in general, and Islamic world in particular. Highlighting the importance of boosting economic, trade and investment relations and establishing joint investment projects, HH noted that Indonesia is a fertile ground for investment, given its huge economic, trade and investment resources and assets. On his part, the Indonesian Vice President said his country was interested in consolidating ties with the U.A.E. which he described as ''positive and promising.'' He expressed the hope that the ties would see further progress and lauded the wise policy adopted by the U.A.E., which, he said, had enabled it to achieve the highest rate of growth in the region. He welcomed Sheikh Abdullah's visit to Indonesia, indicating that it comes at an opportune time and amidst major international developments. The visit, he noted, would have positive impact on the course of bilateral ties. He added that Indonesia and Indonesian companies were eager to enhance trade and economic cooperation with the U.A.E. and to harness the promising opportunities for investment and robust economic growth. Also, the country offers to foreign investors an attractive investment climate and facilities.
