Abdullah bin Zayed: It is high time to stop Israeli aggression on Jerusalem

Abu Dhabi (WAM): H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, has expressed grave concern that the repressive and provocative practices of Israel in Jerusalem, in particular, the desecration of the sanctity of the Al Aqsa Mosque, could trigger a third Palestinian uprising (Intifada). 'It is high time to stop Israeli violence in Jerusalem and we should all work together and use all means towards that end,'' Sheikh Abdullah told ambassadors from the member states of the UN Security Council at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday. The meeting was attended by the ambassadors of China, France, US, UK, Russia, Argentina, Australia, Luxembourg, Chile, Jordan, Nigeria, Korea, Angola, Malaysia, Venezuela, New Zealand and Spain. '' It is very important to meet today, so that I may convey to your excellences our deep concern at the recent developments regarding Israel's desecration of the sanctity of Al Aqsa Mosque," he said. He stressed that the UAE is part of the global alliance against terrorism and violence in the world, but noted that Israel's actions in killing people and evicting them "is making our mission even more difficult in creating a safe region." Sheikh Abdullah called on the US and the rest of the international community to ratchet up pressure on Israel to cease the violence and killing in Jerusalem, and warned again about the repercussions of Israel's repressive and provocative acts. ''We understand that Israel is using the memory of the Holocaust as a trump card against Europe and the US, but this does not justify, under any circumstances, what Israel is doing in Jerusalem,'' he added. He told the ambassadors that peace in the Middle East will never be achieved without the two-state solution and Israel's implementation of the UN Security Council resolutions regarding the occupied territories and Jerusalem. Present at the meeting were Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant Foreign Minister for Political Affairs and Tariq Ahmed Al Haidan, Assistant Foreign Minister for International Organisations. http://www.wam.ae/en/news/emirates/1395271997726.html
