ABOUT HARVESTING

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ By November 1, Mongolia has harvested 470.5 thousand tons grain, 245.6 thousand tons potatoes and 97.8 thousand tons vegetables. Against the previous year, the size of harvested potatoes increased 46.3 thousand tons or 23.2 per cent, of grain--by 25.2 thousand tons or 5.7 per cent. The vegs' harvest declined 0.5 thousand tons or 0.5 per cent. Some 16 centner (100 kg) grain and 150.9 centner potatoes have been harvested from one hectare, which is increase of 0.8 centner or 5.2 per cent and of 20.7 centner or 15.9 per cent, respectively, against the previous year. Harvest yield of grain is higher by 0.8-7.5 centners than the state average in Selenge, Bayankhongor, Tov, Bayan-Olgii and Orkhon aimags. This size is equal to the state average in Ovorkhangai aimag. The yield of potatoes is higher 18.7-48.2 centners than the state average in Selenge and Tov aimags, and it is lower 6.7-124.0 centners in other aimags. Some 41 percent of potatoes have been harvested from Tov, 25.3 per cent--from Selenge, 5.9 per cent--from Khovd, 5.8 per cent--from Darkhan-Uul, 3.6 per cent--from Bulgan aimag, and 18.4 per cent--from the city and other aimags. Almost 34 thousand tons or 34.7 per cent of vegs have been harvested from Selenge, 12.9 thousand tons or 13.2 per cent--from Darkhan-Uul, 11.3 thousand tons or 11.6 per cent--from Khovd, 11.3 thousand tons or 11.5 per cent--from Tov aimag.
