Abylgaziev meets with IMF Resident Representative Tigran Poghosyan

Bishkek, Dec. 4, 2019. / Kabar /. Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev met with Permanent Representative of the International Monetary Fund in the Kyrgyz Republic Tigran Poghosyan, the Kyrgyz government’s press service reported.
Abylgaziev expressed gratitude for the assistance provided by the International Monetary Fund to the Kyrgyz Republic.
“We have been cooperating with the IMF almost since independence. During this time, the republic received significant support from the international financial institution. This includes financial assistance and consulting services on various issues. We hope that support will continue to be provided to the country in the future,” said Abylgaziev.
In turn, Tigran Poghosyan noted that the International Monetary Fund intends to further strengthen cooperation with the Kyrgyz Republic.
“We are interested in continuing cooperation. I will do my best to give reliable information about the country to the head office. The effectiveness of aid to the republic from the side of the fund depends on this. Interaction with the fund also affects cooperation with other world financial institutions,” Tigran Poghosyan stated.
The Permanent Representative of the Monetary Fund said that next year a regional center for providing technical assistance to the countries of Central Asia, the Caucasus and Mongolia will be opened in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The proximity to the capital of the Kyrgyz Republic will make it possible to respond more quickly to incoming requests from the country.
At the meeting, the sides discussed issues of the current state of cooperation and interaction on promising research projects.
