ACCIDENTS AND DISASTERS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In the first 11 months of 2012, some 3,776 disasters and accidents occurred. As a result, 226 people died, 12.3 thousand livestock and animals were lost. There were 3,258 structure fires, 229 forest and wildfires, 102 accidental drowning and submersion incidents, 34 heavy rains and floods, 32 animal madness diseases, 26 incidents related to artisan mining rock falls, 22 severe storms, 16 thunders, 14 malignant anthrax, 13 earthquakes with magnitude greater than 3.5, and 11 emergency calls related to chemical substances usage. A damage caused by these disasters and accidents amounted to 91.9 billion togrog. Compared to same period of 2011, a number of the disasters and accidents increased by 508, of people died--by 24.
