Administration’s representative expelled from Iran`s Majlis session

TEHRAN, Dec. 28 (MNA) – The administration’s representative to the Majlis, Behrouz Moradi, was expelled from an open session of the parliament on Tuesday. During the session, which was held to expound Article 12 of a law on the subsidy reform plan, a verbal and physical argument developed between Moradi and MP Hossein Hossieni, who represents the city of Fariman in Razavi Khorasan Province. The bitter quarrel broke out after Hosseini delivered a speech which was sharply critical of the way the administration has chosen to implement the subsidy reform plan. Moradi, who is the director of the Subsidy Reform Organization, then reacted to the lawmaker’s comments by making rude remarks, provoking a physical fight between the two, and Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani ordered the expulsion of Moradi from the session. Expulsion of Moradi falls within the ambit of speaker Mohsen Kouhkan, a member of the Majlis Presiding Board, said that according to the parliamentary bylaws, if any representative, no matter he or she represents the administration or the Majlis, disturbs a parliamentary session, the speaker should give a warning at first, and then he has the authority to expel the one to blame from the session. The representatives are allowed to express their views freely at the parliament, and it is natural that such verbal abuse occurs at times, Kouhkan stated. However, he said, the Iranian people do not expect that such incidents take place in the Islamic system. Fortunately, the two sides of the argument were reconciled later, Kouhkan added.
