Agriculture minister says FOROMED meeting focuses on developments in Mediterranean Basin

ROME (A.A) - February 21, 2012 - Turkey's Food, Agriculture and Animal Breeding Minister Mehmet Mehdi Eker has said that the developments that had taken place in Mediterranean Basin in the recent years were discussed in the ministerial meeting of Mediterranean Forum (FOROMED) in Rome, Italy on Monday. Speaking to AA correspondent in Rome, Eker said that developments especially in North Africa such as Tunisia and Egypt were assessed in the meeting attended by ministers of 13 countries. Eker said he mentioned Turkey's contributions within the scope of Arab Spring in his speech in the meeting. Eker said he also mentioned the progress that has been recorded by Turkey in the agriculture sector in the past 7-8 years in the meeting. Meanwhile, Turkish Ambassador in Rome Hakki Akil hosted a dinner in honor of Eker and Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem. Abdessalem said that they were grateful to Turkey for its assistance to transition process in Tunisia.
