Ahmadinejad: International pressure applied on Iran to prevent its progress

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 14 /Trend S.Isayev, T. Jafarov/ Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said that the International pressure applied on Iran is being made to prevent country's progress, IRNA reported. "The depreciation of Iran's rial among global currencies is part of the enemy plan," Ahmadinejad said, adding that the enemies are afraid of Iran's strong, progressive, idealistic and ideological template. "The enemies thought the country would be paralyzed by the sanctions and restrictions, however nothing significant has happened, and Iran is headed towards progress as before," Ahmadinejad noted, adding that the country is trying to "strengthen the national currency. Without revealing any details, Iran's president said that the enemies will see Iran becoming less dependant on its oil revenues in the next two or three years. The United States slapped new sanctions on Iran on Thursday, targeting a handful of companies and individuals it says are providing materials and technology to Tehran's nuclear program. The sanctions announced Thursday by the U.S. State and Treasury departments came the same day U.N. nuclear watchdog inspectors wrapped up one-day talks in Iran over its nuclear program, widely suspected by the United States and other Western nations as a front for the country's development of nuclear weapons - a charge Iran has repeatedly denied.
