Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan intends to attract investors from Sri Lanka to mine precious stones

Bishkek, Oct.9, 2019. /Kabar/. . “I am sure that there is a lot of wealth hidden in the depths of Kyrgyzstan”, Ambassador of Sri Lanka Nurdin Mohammad Shahid said after the ceremony of presenting his credentials to President of Kyrgyzstan.
Nurdin Mohammad Shahid is Ambassador to Pakistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan, and his main office is in Islamabad.
“This time I am very happy to come to a beautiful and wonderful country-Kyrgyzstan. I talked to President about opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in areas such as tourism, attracting foreign direct investment, and attracting investment from Sri Lanka in different sectors of the Kyrgyz economy.
In general, we intend to strengthen bilateral relations to bring our countries closer. I also expressed to President Sri Lanka's readiness to support Kyrgyzstan's position on platforms such as the UN when necessary,” he said.
At the meeting with the Sri Lankan ambassador, Head of the Investment Promotion and Protection Agency Shumkarbek Adilbek uulu informed about the availability of more than 160 investment proposals.
“I also learned that there is an opportunity to develop the jewelry sector in Kyrgyzstan. My country is famous for its jewelry, precious stones such as rubies, sapphires, etc. Your country has very beautiful nature, beautiful mountains and clean air. I am sure that there is a lot of wealth and valuable stones hidden in the depths of Kyrgyzstan. I think that if we can at least attract investment and businessmen from Sri Lanka in this sector, then Kyrgyzstan will become a prosperous country,” the ambassador said.
