Anti-Syria conspiracies doom to fail: Lebanese parliament speaker
TEHRAN, Dec.11 (MNA) – Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri said that the United States’ conspiracy against Syria is doomed to fail.
Berri made the remarks in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi in Beirut on Friday in which they exchanged views on the developments occurring in the region.
The top Lebanese lawmaker also described Iran’s military and counterespionage capabilities as wonderful and said that the downing of the U.S. spy drone demonstrated Iran's military power.
The Iranian armed forces downed an advanced RQ-170 unmanned U.S. spy plane last week. The first video footage of the drone was broadcast on television on Thursday.
Roknabadi said that the United States had violated Iran's airspace several times in the past.
He added the penetration of the drone 250 kilometers into Iran’s airspace shows that the U.S. carried out this provocative move intentionally.
Iran expects a clear and decisive action from the international community especially the United Nations against the U.S. dangerous moves, the ambassador pointed out.
Roknabadi pointed to the responsibility of countries for promoting international peace and security and said all countries, particularly Iran's friendly countries, are expected to adopt a clear stance towards the U.S. provocative moves which are intended to undermine international peace and security.
He also said that Syria is making determined strides in the path of peace and stability and the enemy's conspiracies are turning into a complete fiasco as the days go by.
