Arab League calls for International community's prompt intervention to stop Israeli crimes in Palestinian territories

CAIRO, 8th April, 2015 (WAM) -- The Arab League, AL, has called for the prompt intervention of the International community to stop Israeli crimes in Palestinian territories in order to achieve a permanent and just solution of the Palestinian issue based on the two-states living safely and peacefully in juxtaposition. "A prompt intervention of the world community, institutions and countries concerned with the peace process in the entire Middle East is required in order to shoulder their responsibility and immediately interfere to put Israel under pressure, to stop ongoing crimes that it commits on a daily-basis against the Palestinian people, coerce it to carry out its obligations stipulated in the world legal resolutions and all related U.N. resolutions," read a statement of the Arab League which was carried by the Saudi Press Agency, SPA. In the statement, which came on the occasion of the anniversary of the Deir Yassin massacre, the Arab League stressed on "the need to reject Israeli discrimination in treating the Palestinian people, stressing the importance of an obvious international move and intervention to halt this policy, to lay the ground for the two-state solution, in accordance with international law and resolutions and to provide international protection for the Palestinian people and their resources." The statement went on to note the significance of reactivating Arab-sponsored Peace Initiative adopted in the Beirut-held Arab Summit in 2002, which envisaged a comprehensive and integrated solution for Arab-Israeli strife, based on justice, equity and realising the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, establishing their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital and to reach an agreeable solution for Palestinian refugees' question. The Arab League warned Israel, in the statement, against "continuing its aggressive policies and discriminatory and expansive approach that ignores, in disdain, all internationally legal resolutions as well as human rights norms, in pursuance of imposing a fait accompli policy, that would explode any endeavour targeting achieving comprehensive and just peace, hence destroying any opportunity to establish the independent, sovereign, interconnected and viable Palestinian state." – Emirates News Agency, WAM – http://www.wam.ae/en/news/international/1395278983275.html
