Austrian envoy appreciates Iran for saving 460 POWs of WWI

TEHRAN, Nov. 12 (MNA) – Austrian Ambassador to Tehran Stefan Scholz said that former adversaries of World War I will not forget that Iranians saved the lives of 460 Austro-Hungarian prisoners of war held in Russia. In a Sunday tweet, he wrote, “today, Iran-based Ambassadors of the former adversaries of First World War jointly commemorated the armistice centenary.” “We will never forget that Iranians saved the lives of 460 Austro-Hungarian POWs held in Russia who managed to escape and found a safe haven in neutral Persia.”
