Azerbaijan, China discuss prospects for developing cooperation in military-technical and military education areas

Beijing, April, 29, AZERTAC Azerbaijan and China have explored prospects for enhancing cooperation in military-technical and military education areas as Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov met with Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the People's Republic of China Xu Qiliang in Beijing. Qiliang described the friendly relations between the peoples of the two countries as rapidly growing. He noted that once established through the historic Silk Road, the relations between the two countries today open up new opportunities for deepening the bilateral cooperation within the One Belt, One Road Initiative. Hasanov hailed China`s role in fighting against terrorism, separatism and transnational crime and in maintaining peace and stability throughout the world. Emphasizing China’s important contribution to international peacekeeping operations, the minister said Azerbaijan, with its most powerful and well-equipped army in the South Caucasus, also contributes to peacekeeping operations to establish peace and stability both in the region and throughout the world. Noting that the Azerbaijan’s Defense Ministry maintains close cooperation with Chinese corporations and companies manufacturing military products, Hasanov emphasized that reciprocal visits and meetings of experts are regularly held between the two ministries as part of this cooperation. The defense minister thanked China for supporting Azerbaijan`s fair stance on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
