Baku Declaration of TURKPA adopted in Azerbaijan

Bishkek, Dec.19, 2019. /Kabar/. Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TURKPA) has adopted the Baku Declaration, the press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament said Thursday.
The document, adopted at the 9th Plenary Session of the TURKPA in Baku, Azerbaijan, reflects the provisions on the support of the organization for further deepening of relations between the states, development of model laws, joining efforts for the preservation of cultural values and exchange of experience among the staff of the parliaments of the TURKPA member states.
The Declaration also highlights the importance of the formation of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry in order to expand cooperation among the TURKPA member states in the trade and investment sphere.
In addition, during the meeting of the TURKPA Assembly Council, Kyrgyzstan's success in hosting the World Nomadic Games in Issyk-Kul in 2014, 2016 and 2018 was noted. At the same time, the TURKPA member states were invited to participate in this sporting and cultural event to be held in Turkey in 2020.
Speakers of the parliaments of the TURKPA member states - Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Azerbaijan – delivered welcoming speeches at the 9th Plenary Session of the Assembly Council.
Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan Dastanbek Dzhumabekov emphasized that inter-parliamentary cooperation, harmonization of legislation and strengthening of cultural and humanitarian ties became one of the most important missions of TURKPA.
"Our brotherly peoples are united by a common history, language and culture. Effectively using the parliamentary diplomacy along with the harmonization of legislation, we intend to assist in the further development of political dialogue between the states to further deepen and expand political, trade, economic and cultural ties," the Kyrgyz speaker said.
At the TURKPA Plenary Session, Speaker of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly Mustafa Şentop handed over the chairmanship of TURKPA to Chairman of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov.
According to the Baku Declaration, consisting of 47 items, the next Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking- Countries will be held next year in Kazakhstan.
Note that Parliamentary Delegation, headed by Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, takes part in the 9th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries (TURKPA).
The Plenary Session is held in Baku, Azerbaijan on Dec.17-19. The Kyrgyz delegation consists of 7 MPs.
The TURKPA in full, the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-Speaking Countries, is an international organization comprising some of the Turkic countries. It was founded on Nov.21, 2008 in Istanbul.
The General Secretariat is in Baku, Azerbaijan. The member countries are Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Turkmenistan. Since late 2018, Hungary is an observer.
