Body of deceased NYT reporter Shadid sent from Turkey to Lebanon

ISTANBUL (A.A) – February 19, 2012 – New York Times' Pulitzer Prize winner correspondent Anthony Shadid's body was sent from Turkey's Istanbul city to Lebanon on Saturday evening. Shadid, who won the Pulitzer Prize for International Reporting twice in 2004 and 2010, died on February 16 from an acute asthma attack while attempting to leave Syria on horseback. An autopsy was performed on Shadid at forensic medicine institute in Turkey's southern province of Adana, and his body was handed to his wife Nada Bakri Shadid yesterday. Shadid had an allergic reaction to the horses which triggered an asthma attack. He arrived in Turkey on February 8 and proceeded to Syria via southern Hatay province illegally.
