Bruneian supreme commander meets Thai defense minister

BANGKOK, April 25 (TNA) -- The Bruneian supreme commander has paid a courtesy call on Thai Deputy Prime Minister/Defense Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwon yesterday, during which both sides reiterated the strong ties between both countries' armed forces. Deputy Defense spokesman Air Vice Marshal Rangsan Yaowarat said that Supreme Commander of Negara Brunei Darussalam Maj Gen Dato Paduka Seri Mohammad Tawih bin Abdullah and delegation had called upon Gen Prawit at the Defense Ministry during an official visit to Thailand as the guests of the Royal Thai Armed Forces. The Thai defense minister had taken the opportunity to reiterated the close relationships between the leaders and officials of both countries, noting that both sides have been exchanging frequent visits, where the military of both sides have been cooperating tightly on intelligence exchanges which is beneficial to both countries' security and strategies. Moreover, Gen Prawit also expressed his admiration toward the progress of the Brunei in setting up a security communication network within the ASEAN region in response to the ADMM framework. He said the network would help ASEAN member states to quickly and efficiently coordinate on security and its related issues. Both military leaders have also agreed that the exchanging of information and experiences on terrorism between the armed forces would be beneficial for both sides in dealing with threats quickly and successfully. Both leaders have further stressed on continuing the strong military relations into the coming future. (TNA)
