CABINET TO COLLABORATE WITH MEDIA IN REDUCING AIR POLLUTION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The National Committee on Reducing Air Pollution, the Government's Media and Public Relations service, the "Fresh Air" fund and the media are to cooperate in reducing the air pollution. A memorandum on the matter has been signed by directors and managers of 17 TV channels, 30 websites and 15 newspapers. By this, the parties intend to collaborate in distributing factual news and information about all resolutions and decisions and their implementation on reducing air pollution and to intensify a prevention of air pollution and protection of fresh air. The media are responsible for promptly delivering the news about measures for reducing/controlling waste of substances harmful to air and for supporting the public participation in the prevention of air pollution. According to surveys, the air pollution has reduced by some percent. In the city, 98 thousand families living in ger (national dwelling) areas out of more than 180 thousand families have renovated their stoves. Other 140 thousand families are expected to get new stoves by March next year, and all ger districts inhabitants will change their stoves by the first quarter of 2014. B.Khuder
