Cambodian FM meets his Thai counterpart

BANGKOK, June 20 - Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon met his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai, to boost ties and cooperation between two neighboring countries. Prak, who took his post in April, is paying his first two-day visit to Thailand to introduce himself at the invitation of Thai Foreign Minister. During the talks on Monday, they followed up progress of cooperation discussed by the leaders of the two countries in the 2nd Thailand – Cambodia Joint Cabinet Retreat (JCR) last December. Cambodian foreign minister said bilateral cooperation is satisfying in the past two years. Both sides target to achieve an increase of trade by three folds by 2020 as the current trade value was recorded at 5.5 billion USD. Regarding transportation links, the two countries will expedite the establishment of new border checkpoints and also the upgrade of some existing ones to be permanent check points. Other cooperation, discussed between two neighbouring countries include Cambodian labour welfare and anti-human trafficking. The two-day visit, which will end today paves the way for the 10th meeting of Thai –Cambodian Joint Commission for Bilateral Cooperation to be held in Bangkok in August. (TNA)
